Imagine a giant radiator, 3 stories tall and 1000 feet long, with a bunch of fans running along the top.
And ya got a series of 150 hp motors running long drive shafts connected to right angle gearboxes with the fans attached to them.
That's where the gearboxes in them pics came from. Pretty severe service, running in steam 24/7 for 10 years at a time.
