Oh great, Cox Business just sent me an email that I have the FakeSecSen or Spy Sheriff virus. Looked it up and it is a virus that modifies the windows registry, ie not Mac compatible. I only have Macs. If you don't remove the virus traffic they will block your internet.
Call the number an tell BOFH all I have is Macs on my network and the virus they are warning me about is a windows only virus. The BOFH tells me I should scan my computer with one of their free tools anyway to be safe. Ask which of their tools should I use to scan my Mac. Answer, none.
Finally tells me they use a third party service for virus notification and he will record this as a false notification.
Have gotten these warnings before for our company cox business fiber connection and found users were disabling anti-virus software on their pc laptops and bringing viruses to the network from home. They turned it off because it kept interrupting them telling them they had a virus! Now nobody has admin access to their computers so they can't turn that stuff off. We also have anti-virus running on our internet router.
