Good Morning, if I may be so bold as to suggest it.
Knew the guy that designed the Macintosh Equipment in it's hey day. He called them Mc****.
When my brother graduated college and started working for his FIL at the company I work for today they were really into hi-fi stereo. His FIL was not only the founder of Kimray, oil field controls, he was the recordist for the local symphony and recorded every performance for 25 years. When the music aficionados came to listen to his recordings he had to have the best.
Not happy with what was available, bro and his FIL decided to make their own stereo stuff. They hired the designer from Macintosh, and a speaker designer from Altec Lansing. They made a tuner, preamp, several sizes of amps and two sizes of speakers. They called them K-V. And even opened a local store, The Stereo Store. Their stuff was very highly regarded in the hi-fi world. This was in the early 70's.
In the mid 70's when they saw the consumer electronics catching up sound quality wise in the with the hi-fi stuff they sold The Stereo Store (which is still in business today doing custom av rooms). Tthe guy from Macintosh left to work for Phase Linear. The speaker guy continued to work at Kimray as a production engineer until he retired.
I still have one of the K-V 300 watt amps. In the mid-80's when I was upgrading my stereo system to surround sound the amp tested out at .001% distortion at full power. Doubt if I could find anyone today that would even want it.
In the early 90's I setup the system used to convert all the symphony's performances on reel to reel tape to digital and put them on CDR. It was a challenge because the dynamic range of the music on reel to reel was wider than the 100db limit of digital.
Don't even want to talk about the speaker I designed and built while in college that was stolen and the guy's company is now called Kicker after that speaker.
