There is a bunch of stuff on the CARB site about just plugging into the ODBII port on newer cars, mainly it saves time and the little bit of bad stuff into the air from the rolling tests that were run before. There is a chart that equates ODBII sensors to what was "sniffed" when rolling so they figure the state will make more $$$$$ in the end. I had my 2007 Chevy smog tested back in April and all the guy did was plug in his reader but it sent the info to the state immediately it seems?
