I know you asked Brent and he is using an electrical water heater.
But....
I looked into tank-less for natural gas. It was going to require a new gas line from the meter to the tank. I checked around on forums and magazine articles. The good quality units are EXPENSIVE and still have issues. In the end for the two of us the payback was about 40 years. I suspect I will live to be a little bit less than 100 so it just did not make sense. We never have yet run out of hot water. It is just not an issue for us.
