The reason for a salvage title is pretty simple. It's repair cost vs actual value. Simple as that. When 964 cars were sub $20k in value, they totaled easily for minimal damage. Cost to repair exceeded replacement value. Those same cars today may likely be repaired and given a new life without a branded title. This whole Carfax generation is ridiculous. Title brand means nothing as long as repair was done correctly.
