I think there are so many misconceptions about the left lane that it is no wonder.

1) People taught that the left lane is called the fast lane ( versus the passing lane)
2) weaving versus moving over ( I drove with someone once who sat in left, criticizing the guy a few cars up for weaving in and out. The guy was not weaving, he was moving over to let the fast cars that passed us on the right pass him on the left before moving back over to pass another slower car ( likely trying to set an example),

Some people will never get it. I hate being a passenger
