That Darn Alternator Wire Shroud

I am reassembling after fixing up my alternator. I have the wires all back on, but I can't get the stupid wire shroud (which is inside the outer air shroud) back on the alternator's bolts. The issue stems from the open channel that is part of the wire shroud. Presumably, this guides air to the heater duct. However the ends of the channel's sides stick out and are causing problems.

There are three points of contact I can't seem to line up properly.
1) The rear (of car) top edge of the channel on the air shroud contacts the fan housing right where one of the braces of the housing itself lies. Should this end of the channel go on top of the housing's brace, or underneath it?

2) The front (of the car) top edge of the channel ends right near where the bundle of alternator wires go through the air shroud's back end. It can be hooked over the bundle, or tucked underneath. Which side does it go on?

3) The front (of the car) bottom edge of the channel ends right where the ground wire from the alternator is bolted to the engine. It seems it could go above or below the bottom edge of the wire shroud. Which side should it go on?

I've had my hands stuck in that crazy tight place for an hour and no combination seems to allow the bolts to line up. Any ideas?

Blue is the fan housing. Green is the live wires. Red is the ground wire. The wire shroud is black and the wire shroud's air channel is grey.
