There should be a notch in the extension for the onboard voltage regulator. The finning is to direct cooling air to cyl 1 and 2. If you're hitting the outer shroud, you need to rotate counter clock wise.
I the ground wire to center case is too close move it forward on the center line nut
You want the VR either up at 12 o'clock or down at 6, no in between.
