I'm not sure I follow. While the values of the cars have gone up, fixing them is still about the same. Unless you push a rod through your case, you can replace everything on the engine. Same on the transmission.
If anything I feel better fixing my car now because I know it's holding its value well. I must've spent about eight grand on my transmission
