My opinion is that what ever cost they are; a half-day and a handful of pulls on a dyno with a good tuner does a much, much better job. The reason is that ignition timing plays (both initial + total advance) an important role as well as the fuel curve. You can accomplish soooo much more with a half-day session of getting everything dialed-in with the bike stationary under controlled conditions with a knowledgeable guy.
I would thoroughly research a good dyno guy in your area that has a 4 gas analyzer. Don't confine those searches to just "Harley" shops as good tuners usually know more than, just say, "Jap" or "Cruiser" bikes.
You would not believe how many guys will spend thousand's of $$$$$ on parts and so much time on putting it all together, but refuse to spend the $300-$500 for dyno time to dial it in. Like all the ***** they bought is supposed to get friendly and work their magic automatically.
