Miura. Established Lamborghini as a maker of real sports cars. Drop dead gorgeous.

Countach. Looks like a spaceship even today. Established Lamborghini as certifiably insane.

GT40 AND the 05/06 GT. Fewer cars look better, and I'm willing to throw down on that.

Of course I'm biased, but the Dodge Daytona/Plymouth Superbird. Real aero tech designed by rocket engineers and refined in a wind tunnel, and then released to the public.

959. Foreshadowed all of the cool tech to come in a 911.

F40. Brutal, and Enzo's final project.

Fox body Mustang. No other car within 20 years either way (still!!!) has its level of aftermarket support. I got seven speeding and two burnout tickets in mine...

R34 Skyline GT-R. Awesome looking, can be made ungodly powerful and absolutely worshiped by anyone who played the Gran Tursimo series.

RX-7, early or FD series. Early for simplicity and late for its still relevant performance.

E46 M3. There just to push that stupid E30 from the list. I haven't driven one, but I can't understand the fawning praise that's constantly heaped on the stupid thing. My '89 944 turbo would flat out murder it in every performance category.

For 911's, my favorite (mildly attainable?) aircooled car is the '94 Turbo 3.6. Where I work I've been fortunate to drive a dozen of them and every one is special. I love the 964's for their classic styling mixed with an HVAC system that doesn't require a mechanical engineering degree, power steering and ABS. Yes, you can get by without (I steal my mother's '79 Euro SC when I feel like it) the 964 just works better.

My favorite unicorn 911 is the 993RS. I got to drive one a couple times for around 100 total miles. The missing sound deadening, the transmission ratios, the suspension, the extra displacement...it's one of the most amazing cars I've ever been near.

Honorable mention:

90's Supra
C7 Corvette--the damn thing is actually a nice car and not just a quick one.
New Viper--same as the C7.
