There is no mystery that I am aware of over the reasons for "going to Liberia", the administration had little choice but to bow to international pressure to intervene in a massive human rights genocide, or else more or less come out and admit our hypocracy over supposed (new) reasons for Iraq war. And BTW, yesterday we definitely were not going to help. Today, MIRACLE!, the policy changed. Like I said, political pressure.

Being one who will accept any motive for helping these poor, god-forsaken people, I'll take this motive, Thank you very much. We have a unique obligation to help them, IMO, since their butcher leader is nothing more than a former thug from Boston, Charles Taylor.
