They were good friends, Sebring cut his hair and advised him on what cool clothes to wear, (like the roll neck sweaters and Persols), what today would be known as a "stylist", most movie stars have them. McQueen was justifiably scared schitless in the days following and reportedly packed a gun at Sebring's funeral then went into hiding for a bit.
As for the 911, it doesn't get any lamer than a '68 911L Sportomatic but hey, it's a Porsche.
