My love for the blues as a poor, white farm boy growing up in the sticks was the first time I heard the Rolling Stones "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out" album (1969). I remember my old brother 'borrowed' it from one of his friends as they had a garage band and were trying to learn some of Keith's licks. Even though most of it was sloppy and at times out of tune - there was no denying it was soulful. It made the hair stand up on my arms. It made me lust to be a guitar player; to be in a band.
I did not know, at the time any Black blues artist's, only their music that was stolen by main stream rock radio players. Only much later did I educate myself on how rich American blues music was but that was largely forgotten or stolen from the original people. Also I learned how prolific some of the earlier blues guys were, something that was apparently lost on America's youth in the 50's / 60's but wasn't in other countries.........................................
