I've bought 2 SC's in that price range in the last 7 months. A 78 Targa and an 80 coupe. I wish they would have been less but they just weren't.

Always wanted a 60's speedster growing up in the 70's. Most of those are rust buckets or show cars now so that wasn't really an option anymore.

So after putting it off for most of my life i just figured it was my time now. Kids grown, wife gone so now or never. Had no idea whatsoever that the prices had skyrocketed on these cars the past 5 years or whatever. So I was a little late to the party. So what am I to do? Not have the cars I want? Btw my DD is a diesel truck.

I remember when I sold my 2nd house for $617,500 in 2004. I paid $201,000 for it in 1997. I was like wow someone paid THAT for that house. So I guess i did okay in real estate but I'm not doing too well on cars.

Then again I bought the cars because I love them. I'm obsessive compulsive and just had to have them. Didn't buy them as an investment but it turns out they might be anyway cause they aint getting any cheaper.

My perspective is that's what you pay to play if you want to own a fine peace of German machinery. For you guys that paid half what I did...good for you! Dont question it. Be happy about it.

Maybe some of you guys who got in cheap have mixed emotions about whether or not you should capitalize and move on or hold on. I dont have that problem. I will be keeping one of the cars regardless of perceived value, market value, whatever. I just like the cars and ain't driving no Honda, or Nissan.

Here are the cars. Picked up the Targa last november and bought the Coupe on ebay last week and its being transported here from the east coast. Both fall in the $25-$30 range (actually 28.3 for the coupe). The Targa is an original owner car with 109k and the coupe has 65K on it . I did the best I could finding decent cars and it wasn't easy even in this price range. people are trying to get the same for some real heaps.
