I decided to go ahead with the idea to uncover the tunnel. Freshen-up the paint and fitted the mat. Look great so I'll be doing it all the way to the front.
Underneath the console, which I'm deleting, there is a couple of holes that could be cover with a cover similar to the coupler one.
