Bill - I love my Crocs! VERY comfortable but you have to get a style that fits you and feels right. I have purchased many directly from Crocs.com but sometimes retail stores stock them. If you buy a pair and decide they aren't what you want you can get a refund too. The
Croc Classic is a pretty safe style to go with for a first time user. Those air holes provide a ton of ventilation - something a guy like you would REALLY appreciate!
