I forgot to also mention that with the dedicated motion camera, I control gain with a knob.
That's very important because often times, despite sound check, the sound engineer will change settings between songs.
I have a stereo jack built into the camera, so I just plug my headphones in, and now I have real time audio level input monitoring on both the screen and in my own ears.
