One thing to keep in mind Scott, that version of the ipod uses wireless G / B. If your router and every device in the house is using wireless N, it will bring down the entire wifi speed of the house IF you have B / G protection enabled in the router.
A little bit technical but it can be useful information if you wonder why the wifi in your house is slow. It will bring the wifi speed from a potential 300mbps to 54 whenever the ipod is on your wifi. Assuming your not using wireless AC.
I have a dedicated access point for wireless B / G devices when they are required!
..Forgot to mention. If the router isn't setup properly, i.e. to allow older devices, you won't be able to connect to the internet. Thought it was your problem initially until it was resolved with a restart.
