After my 1st year away at college I was certain living back home more than 2 months in summer was not for me. After college I chose to be a night watchman rent free on a construction site and lived in a dinky trailer while I sacked away a downpayment for my 1st house.
My kids are always welcome to come home with conditions:
1. My house, my rules.
2. Full time school or rent is due on the 1st.
3. No school or job? Great! You can work for me... We start at 6:30 AM sharp.
One of my kids lived back home while completing her masters in education. This cut her student loan burden in 1/2. She may come and live here briefly again soon. She just sold her house with a short escrow and has 2 months before getting into her new place. Her next home has an ocean view so we may reciprocate.
Circumstances matter. If they move home to wallow in self pity and self destructiveness, we don't do them any favors.
