I still like to see the high hp engineered cars but I tend to agree. They are pretty much useless on the street when 3/4 of their speed is illegal. Unless they guy is an experienced track guy they are also useless on the track. The fascinating thing is the Vette has put a super sports car in an accessible price range for a middle class person. You don't need to spend $800,000 to get the experience. You can get it serviced almost any where here, not being stuck out in no mans land waiting for parts from Italy. Driving the Z06 can get you in a lot of trouble if you are trying to be a race car driver with no experience!
