2015 Corvette -
Earlier this year a friend took me for a ride in his new 2015 Vette convertible - super nice car. Naturally he had to demonstrate all the electronic gadgets, suspension settings and displays. I think the exterior designers have kind of run out of ideas though because it is starting to look kind of strange from the front and rear.
While in Galveston for the 4th we were running east along the sea wall in heavy traffic when a new Vette eased up along side me in "Lady In Red". He suddenly seemed to squat down squeal his tires, leap forward about two car lengths and take a hard left turn threading a hole in the opposite lane of cars.....Don't know what that was all about - but I've often seen late model Mustangs, Cameros, Challengers, etc... blow by peddle to the metal once they read "Porsche" across my back side. I guess they do the same thing when weaving past a Vette ?
The funny thing is that when I was talking car design with my friend with the new Vette and told him the 928 had placed the transmission in the rear since the late 70's he thought I was just trying to pi$$ him off. They can certainly be a touchy bunch after spending $71k on a car. After an earlier high speed test ride up some interstate on ramps in "Miss Purdy" and telling him that with a little careful shopping I can probably buy about 20 pretty good 928's for that kind of money - he's been a bit scarce.
Those new Vettes are nice cars.....Michael
