Plane owners an annual time

My plane is in for its annual inspection. For those who don't own a plane, that is where you drop off your plane with a shop or mechanic that has been blessed by the FAA to look it over. This year I am paying $1,800 for this event. Then after the inspection they tell me if it needs anything to get the coveted sign off.

Now you don't have to let them perform the work there, but what are you really going to do?

I go through this every year, last year cost me $7,000, but some of that was having some extra stuff done. This year I'm not adding anything, except corrosion X treatment. I'm hoping to get by for less than $2,500.

Porsche ownership seams cheap after owning my plane for the last three years. It sucks that I'm not legaly allowed to do much work on my plane.
