Yea, my story is from the early days of laser printers when 4 pages per minute was standard for small office printers.
My dad talked about a printer at the Pentagon that he used for a while in the early 1970s. He said everyone called it the whumper because of the noise it made. It was a dot matrix printer that would print the entire 8.5x11 page at once. One giant print head. He said two people were loading boxes of computer paper and two were moving the boxes of paper as it printed. He never could say what it was they were printing.
