Countersteering is what you to initiate leaning, or to increase the angle of lean. Having the correct lean angle for your speed and the desired corner radius is what it's all about. He didn't have enough experience/talent to know what this was, when heading into the corner.

He did increase his lean angle just before hitting the truck but by then it was too late. A classic case of too much speed, not enough lean angle and a lousy line into the corner. Once he started drifting wide, he was in panic mode and essentially just along for the ride, not in control of it.
