Porsche is probably trying to get their motors out of the air for liability reasons.
The coolest plane I have riden in was a Confederate Air Force P-51 Mustang. They were charging $200 for a short ride in the jump seat. After petrol the dollar left over went to help pay to restore/maintain the planes. It was at the Byron's Radio Controlled Model Airplane Convention/Air Show in Ames Iowa. I also met the first atomic attack force and got a signed picture of the Enola Gay. The show was held at the Byron's Estate. A huge castle looking home with a 1:5th scale airport for R/C in the back yard and a full size airport down the hill in the front yard.
Was in the stands when this happened...
It was the 1:5 scale model's inaugural flight. That's whey the real Enola Gay crew was there. As part of the show they blew up 53 barrels of deisel 1/2 mile away. It not only made a huge mushroom cloud, but you could feel the heat and wind from the blast.
They also did a 1/5 scale renactment battle with planes, tanks, pt boats, and aircraft carriers on and around a large pond next to the 1/5 scale airport. farther in the background was the confederate air force doing their tora tora tora thing. It ended with some guys on a hill in the background doing the iwo jima flag raising. it was all very impressive even without the Enola Gay flight and mock explosion after the reenactment show.
Group of us chartered a bus to make the trip from OKC. As we left that evening we saw the crane picking the Enola Gay model out of the tree it had crashed into.
Byron's was a company that made a lot of 1:5th scale r/c plane model kits.
