Wow, my first OT post...
Mine got the ring she wanted but the priorities were in order. It went kinda like this:
I have her pick 3 stones she likes down at the loco jewelry-mart. We both go down to the store and we look at them. She's smart, so she picks reasonable, big, and ****** huge stones... in that order.
We lay them out. She likes the reasonable one ("I could be very happy with that), she LOVES the big one ("I REALLY REALLY like THAT one"), she hates the huge one ("it's just too much, so gaudy and I really don't need anything THAT big honey"). Coniving, knowing as a man I MUST STAND MY GROUND and would never buy the biggest one.
Now we live on a boat, which we both like (but I REALLY like and she just likes) but the mom in her wants a more perm. nest someday and the MAN in me NEEDS A GARAGE so I say...
small one: 2-3 years to house
medium one: 4-7 years to house
big one: 12+ years to house
It's simple economics honey, the numbers don't lie! She thinks a good hard think and says "I think it will be neat to have a baby on the boat for a while, we can put it in the quarterberth and I can decorate and..."
Moral of story? It ain't HER ring, it's OUR ring, just like it's OUR money and OUR Porsche, and OUR marriage. Like partners, imagine that!
True love, table for 2!
