I have only
driven these routes. A few times.
Cedar City to Panaca then to Caliente.
Caliente is actually a really nice little town. I have stayed there a few times.
Depending on how you feel, take 317 south to 93.
Or stay on 93 out of Caliente. The highway is great and the scenery spectacular.
If you are really feeling sporty, take 93 out of Caliente and then turn off and head south for Delamar Dry Lake. You can get definitive direction in Caliente at the Ranger Station.

The road are hard packed dirt. Check with the rangers on road conditions. There is another really neat dirt road headed west out of Delamar to Alamo. I have also stayed there a few nights.
I have done all our UAV testing at Delemar Lake. The Lake is under the Nellis MOA and there are no restriction or frequency issues. We drove RV's to the site so, road conditions permitting, it is a really neat side trip.
Have fun!
