Now that you've added more information, I am going to double down. You are frustrated. You are frustrated that you drove 3 hours to view a vehicle that isn't really as described and to add insult to injury he raised the price on you once you were in front of him. Maybe you are posting this so that nobody else goes to the same trouble you did. If so, good on you. If it's just to whine, get over it. It's the nature of buying used Porsches, and especially in this crazy market where everyone is rushing around trying to score the next barn find it's going to happen more often than it used to. I once spent most of a day driving to, looking at, and not buying a real turd of a '65 912. Not at all as described and the seller was way out of touch with the market. I didn't post here about it as I saw no point.
As for the marketplace thing... What variant of 1970 is it? Is the engine potentially numbers matching? The car could be worth every cent of $25k, but maybe not wearing it's current clothing. The fact that it didn't sell yesterday doesn't mean it's not worth that. It just means it's not worth it to the people who have seen the car so far...
