Agreed - there are a lot of good attorneys but the field does seem to disproportionately attract its share of egotistical, self-centered a-holes. Add to those existing problems the sense of superiority and self-righteousness that usually accompanies "esq." after one's name and you have a formula for a person capable of regularly sociopathic behavior (the "if you're not a lawyer you ain't schyte" attitude that many display).

The guy sounds like a prick. Maybe worth an anonymous phone call to the local Bar Association? It'd be interesting to see what (if anything) they'd do.
