Driving across to the Eastbay might be a pain in the a**. The local bay area transit system (BART) will shutdown for repair. First time they have done this which will force riders onto buses and ferries to get between SF and the easbay.
However there is much to see and do in the City.
As mentioned above...cable car from Powell street downtown to Fisherman's Wharf.
Once there nice walk to the Marina great views of Golden Gate Bridge and more...
