The cat is already freaked out with the pain, the car ride to a strange place, the strange people holding him down, his new wound, etc.
Why is his owner trying to kill him now?
Make it a positive experience. Be gentle and clam.
Get some cream cheese/tuna and have it come to you. Special treat. A reward. Fun.
This will take a lot of time if it happens at all.
