Congrats on your acquisition.
As far as open vs. enclosed transport is concerned, it depends on the car and your intentions with it, imo.
If you plan to refinish/repaint the exterior, I would chose open transport and apply the difference I saved towards the refinish.
If you have no plans to refinish/repaint because the exterior is in decent to nice to superb condition...well, ante up for the enclosed shipping and protect the finish for the ~3,000 mile journey.
