A Porsche dealer can print out an overrev report showing you if the engine has ever exceeded the redline, by how much, for how long, and how long ago that was... Unless it's a tiptronic, in which case you need not worry about that.
I'd also verify there's no accident history or previous bodywork. A thorough PPI should take care of all of this. The IMS is not a concern. In your climate I'd be more worried about internal engine damage from inadequate warm-up time before pushing it hard. That and rust from salted roads in the winter.
