Thanks guys for the positive responses.

Universeman- yes thought about it but had brand new front pin (from PP) and thought if I used a tap the new thread would be too big for the pin. I replace the first front pin in 2 minutes...but of course the second pin ended up being 2 hrs instead of 2 mins. Old story right?

Did want to clarify one additional thing.... the two cuts I made to open up the area... did NOT go all the way to the front seam....therefore the original seam/stitching was not affected.
