Lawrence, I think that they do now. Most of these ingnition systems are fairly new and current. Our cars use a system that has been in place for nearly 20 years. I would think that you would see an improvement installing the kit into a 944, but minimal, if any power gains in a 996. I have an Aurora Ignition system which is apperently better that the msd. The MSD use multiple sparks at low RPM but the system loses it's advantage at higher RPM's since the ignition timimin/firing is more often to the point of a continuous fire.
