I DD a 2007 E550 and that thing is nickel and dimming me to death with collapsed engine mounts (twice) fuel pump, ECU, ball joints, pulleys, camshaft magnets and on and on. I religiously stick to the service schedules. My daughter DDs a 2003 Honda CR-V. In two years of ownership I have changed the oil and pads. Nothing more. Son number 1 should be getting his license in a few months time and I will be placing him behind the wheel of a $5K Japanese appliance. A walk through Consumer Reports will show you how reliable the Jap appliances are verses MBs. That said, I have no plans to trade my 550 for a Jap car anytime soon as the V8 as a very heady brew.
