I'm sure he's a great guy to be around and to have beers with, but I'm afraid the internets has opened the floodgates to anyone with a camera and a little bit of ambition that otherwise have no business whatsover being in this profession. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm (we're) spoiled by the presenters out there that make it look so easy and effortless with their presenting style AND (more importantly) the automotive knowledge in their possession (Clarkson/Hammond/May/Leno for example).
Once I saw Matt's presentation on the Ferrari- *cough cough*- I mean Datsun "GTO", I realized I'd rather be watching the standard "very attractive young woman personality working her way up in communications and will eventually become a weather girl for some west coast news segment" presenter than some sloppy burly dude with the equivalent automotive knowledge and charisma. How in the world could he (or anyone on his crew) be in that business and not know that the car was a rebodied Datsun? His aggressive defense of his ignorance followed by his tail between the legs back peddling makes for good reading.

If he's making the $$$ and has a great following, I can't fault him for that. But a spade is a spade. He's the Guy Fieri of the automotive world. I'm sure he's ok with that.
