Clutch bleeding sucks!
Reopening this thread because I replaced the clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder and high pressure hose today on my '82 924 Turbo. All that went fairly well with the usual curse words directed at Porsche engineers. However, the fluid bleeding did not go well. I'm using the Motive Power Bleeder, primed, reservoir full and not getting any stiffness on the peddle. I've bled through a quart and the fluid is mostly clear but I'm not getting any significant bubbles out the clutch slave cylinder bleeder. I can easily push the clutch peddle down to the firewall by hand so there's got to be a lot of air trapped in the master cylinder. I've tried bleeding with the peddle depressed, peddle raised and pumping the peddle between having the bleeder open. What gives? I remember seeing a technical thread that the writer said to prime the slave, master and hose with fluid by injecting prior to installation. But the space is so tight, how can you keep the fluid in the part while your struggling to get the hose on the master cylinder?
I know one of you guys will have a cool tip that will make tomorrow morning oh so much better
