When mine broke I called the overhead door company and they replaced the spring and tensioned it and I didn't have to lift a finger. Don't remember what it costed, but remember it wasn't much more than the cost of the spring itself. The guy said something about the replacement labor being cheap because they didn't want anyone killing themselves doing DIY on the broken spring. And was told if ever had any tension or alignment problems to call the number on the sticker he put on the door and they would service it for free.

When I replaced my door several years later, I went back with the same company and brand...Overhead Doors.
