How many miles?

What are the known maintenance issues for each car? Reading in Pano about the 996TT with over 500K miles was impressive... but I am sure some maintenance items are not cheap (ie, engine drops to change plugs?)

Are there specific cars in mind? ie, there's two 996tt cabs that you are looking at or are these simply cars you will spend time pursuing once the aircooler is gone?

I'd make sure you drive them both, obviously. While I had a boxster, I found I really didn't like the dash design. Same design as the 996TT. To me, the 997 interior can be a much nicer and more cohesive design and nicer place to be in. Are there improvements in the electronics that make the 997 better/easier than the 996tt?

Do you want/need the AWD of the TT? or is RWD of the 997 ok? (assuming you aren't looking at a 4cab)
