Sheesh...that sucks. So sorry to hear. Sleep well Shelby. Lot's of friends waiting on the other side.

Funny, since we lost our Mazy a few weeks ago (English Mastiff), it's been quieter around the house and the wound is starting to heal a bit (it does for all of us in time). Wife is working on me to get another one, or possibly a St. Bernard. We'll see. Our other two seem content and happy getting more attention. But man, we sure do miss that mushy blob of hugs and slobber.

Bottom line, the wound becomes less "fresh", but never fully heals. We lost our girl long before her time and it'll always be hard to rationalize. Stay strong fellas. There's lots of pups out there that need good homes. It's good there's people like us that do our part to help them.
