Its a personal choice thing, so dont take this the wrong way: My dad has a set of VOT altecs since new. Compared to a nice set of modern speakers they sound terrible to me. No real bass and no midrange smoothness, and harsh highs.
I see those things are going for a couple K on ebay, I might tell my dad to sell his.
Then again old stuff is cool. The last Subaru sti econobox I had was faster and "better" than my 930 in every objective way.
