Hey everyone,
It's been a year since the wife saw a posting on the Truckee Animal Shelter web site.
I got the call at work that she was playing hooky from her job, "A mental health day" and was taking a ride up to "see" this guy. My first thoughts were that he looked like a small grey wolf with a "tude". She tells me he is a mini schnauzer but I'm sorry, I just didn't see it in the posting. I've always been a herding dog guy and she is the Schnauzer expert. So I say ok dear, let me know what happens.
Several hours later I get another call informing me that this little guy was on his way home with her and he has been with us ever since.
I just wanted to share some photos of this past year.
The shelter listing:
Not too sure on his story before us. He was found wandering the streets of Truckee and his pads were really torn up as if he has been on the lamb for a long time.
This little guy looked so defeated when we got him.

He was so shut down that we got him a collar with a tag stating "deaf" with all of our contact info. He wouldn't react to sounds, loud noises, anything. Not even an ear twitch.

Slowly we started to see responses as he work out of his mental state.
He took to his crate and new name really quickly so we think his new name had to have been close to Henry. Especially for a guy 10 +\- years old.
Has established his morning routine of a walk to get the day started. He isn't the typical yippy little dog Schnauzers are known to be. He is very mellow on will occasionally bark at a deer if it is in the yard. One of those "Hey! Your in my yard" kinda barks.
Makes the honey smile when he greets her and gives her a little hello whimper and his famous Elvis smile..
We believe his pervious owner was an elderly gentleman, every time he see an older guy with all grey or white hair he gets excited and happy.
This has to be one of my favorite pictures. Just two guys chillaxing, by the way, it's dad.
The first time we took Henry over to the ranch, he promptly went inside, into the living room and right into his lap and laid down. Those two instantly hit it off.

The "your taking entirely too long, I gotta poop" look
As you can all tell, life is pretty rough here at the ol homestead.
Cheers everyone and happy one year anniversary Henry
