Nature is so very unpredictable. This hits close to home. I am an Eagle Scout. My wife and her family were involved in a serious flash flood in Zion ~ 30 years ago.
She was 3 years old with a 3 month old little sister. Campsite, car, and family swept away!! They somehow got stuck on a high sand bank and her Dad held onto a tree until they were rescued.
Many nice people helped them by providing shelter and clothes for a few days until their car (80's hatch back Cellica) could be retrieved and repaired.
You never know what might happen out there!
Our family just returned from a 14 day road/camping trip in the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, and Blackhills. Freezing night temps and several awesome thunderstorms.
Condolences and Good thoughts to all those families involved.
