Found the Fix! to the Million Mile Read Out
Over on the Rennlist a guy had the same issue with a 99 Boxster, A mechanic provided the fix, see below. It works
Disconnect the negative cable with the key in the ignition. Turn key to position 1, let the car sit long enough to bleed off any power, then turn key to off position. Then hook up negative cable.
