Love just love carbon bikes. I always had one or more in the past 20 years. I started with a Look frame. Raced and trained on it for about 6-7 years and beat the hell out of it. I am not nice to my equip. That bonded frame started to come apart at the head tube after that. I had some good friends in the industry so it got sent back to the Look factory. I am not sure if they gave me a new one of it was repaired. All I know was that it look brand new when I got it back some time later. Went out and beat on it some more. I finally gave it to someone who wanted to start riding.

One advice on carbon is that don't spend crazy money on a cheap or super light expensive frame. The lighter, the more it suffers from rigidity so its a weaker frame compare to a slightly heavier one. I ride a Time frame, RXRS Ulteam. Its a heck of a frame, stiff where it counts and its very comfortable and alive. 50s coming around the corner for me too, breaking something is no longer fun. I had a broken collar bone and three ribs early this year. It put me out of commission for a few weeks. Carbon frames should be fine and it will last a long time, that's if you don't crash it. Mine has survive some good one and they do fine without any issues.
