There aren't a lot of shops in the US that do what I think of as quality backdate/outlaw conversions. TRE in California does some nice stuff- but they seem mostly to do fiberglass and I wanted steel. Flatsix (Bloomington MN) does really, really great work- I just didn't know about them when I started this build.
There are, I'm sure lots and lots of other great shops that do this too that I just don't know abou.
I'm purposely excluding Singer who does just silly silly great cars- but they are in a different stratosphere of both build quality and cost.
Obviously there are some guys who have done FANTASTIC cars in there own garages (guys like Chris Nielsen come to mind), but I do not have that kind of time, tools or, most importantly, skill.
For whatever reason- the UK seems to have some shops that do a lot of this type of thing (Autofarm, Early911, etc). I just really like some of Nick Moss's previous backdates and decided the shipping costs would be a relatively small fraction of the total.
