It was $4k + shipping and three weeks downtime. I think you may be thinking of that 2nd gear detent update you can do for around $200. That doesn't really fix the problem. The issue is a tolerance problem on the second gear syncro.
The issue in my case and a lot of others is that once this starts to happen it gets progressively worse and causes problems in the rest of the transaxel as well. I needed new syncros on just about every gear, and Eric at g-box had to machine the second gear syncro in a special way as to allow the dogs to engage differently. It was a very involved process, but the problem is gone.
